Coast-to-Coast Lecture Series
The Ride for World Health Coast-to-Coast Lecture Series has been developed in partnership with the Global Health Council and University Coalitions for Global Health Resource Group (UCGH) to educate various audiences about the current state of global health and stimulate conversation within our national audience regarding these problems and possible solutions.
Infectious Diseases Infectious disease deaths account for 22% of global mortality. Here you will learn about the extent of infectious diseases in the developing world. The prevention, transmission, and treatment of 3 of the biggest killers:HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria, are discussed.
Mental Health The effect of mental illness on the lives of individuals and families can be profound. Here you will learn about the prevalence of mental illness and suicide differ around the world. Special issues that face vulnerable populations such as refugees, women, and victims of disasters are discussed.
Poverty And Health Did you know that 1 in 5 people in the world live on less than $1.00 a day? Here you will learn about the extent of poverty around the globe, what contributes to poverty, and some possible solutions for this crisis.
